Challenge Details in HTML: Rich Content for Enterprise Administrators

Available exclusively in the Enterprise Admin Portal

Overview

Every challenge in your account now includes a Details button — a dedicated space where administrators can deliver rich, formatted content directly to participants inside the challenge experience. Using standard HTML, you can go well beyond a plain text description to create polished, structured messaging that communicates your challenge goals, rules, tips, and background in a clear and engaging way.

Whether you want to explain the science behind a wellness initiative, lay out participation rules in an easy-to-scan format, or inspire participants with a compelling challenge story, the Details section gives you a full creative canvas to work with.

This is an Enterprise-only feature and is configured through your organization’s branded administration portal.

How to Add Challenge Details

  1. Log in to your branded Enterprise Admin Portal
  2. Navigate to Manage Challenges
  3. Open or create the challenge you want to add details to
  4. Locate the Details field within the challenge setup or edit screen
  5. Enter your content using standard HTML markup
  6. Save your changes — the Details button will now appear to participants inside that challenge

Participants tap the Details button within the challenge to expand and read the content you have authored.

What You Can Include in Challenge Details

The Details section supports standard HTML, giving you wide flexibility in how you present information. Common uses include:

Challenge Goals and Background Explain the purpose of the challenge, the health topic it addresses, and why it matters. Giving participants the “why” behind a challenge increases motivation and engagement.

Participation Rules and Instructions Lay out exactly how the challenge works — what counts as an activity, how points are earned, what the timeline looks like, and any guidelines participants need to follow.

Tips and Best Practices Share practical advice that helps participants succeed. For a walking challenge this might mean step-tracking tips; for a nutrition challenge it might mean meal planning guidance.

Resources and Links Use HTML anchor tags to link out to articles, videos, external websites, or internal resources that deepen participant understanding of the challenge topic.

Formatted Structure Use headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, bullet lists, and numbered lists to make your content easy to scan and digest — especially for longer or more complex challenge descriptions.

Tips for Writing Great Challenge Details

Lead with the “why”: Participants who understand the purpose of a challenge are more likely to stay engaged. Open with a brief, motivating explanation of what the challenge is about and what they will gain from it.

Keep it scannable: Use headings and short paragraphs rather than large blocks of text. Most participants will read on a mobile screen.

Be specific about rules: Vague instructions lead to questions. Clearly state what counts, what doesn’t, and how scoring works.

Preview before publishing: After saving, view the challenge from a participant’s perspective to confirm the Details content displays as intended.

Use links thoughtfully: External links are a great way to enrich your content, but keep them relevant. Every link should add genuine value for participants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know how to code to use this feature? Not at all. Basic HTML uses simple, readable tags that most administrators can learn quickly with a short reference guide. The examples in this post are enough to get started with well-formatted content. If you would like additional help, our concierge team is happy to assist.

Is there a character or length limit for the Details content? There is no strict character limit, but we recommend keeping Details content concise and focused. Very lengthy content can be harder for participants to read on a mobile device. If you have a large amount of information to share, consider linking to an external resource rather than including everything inline.

Can I include images in the Details section? Images can be embedded using the standard HTML <img> tag if you have a publicly accessible URL for the image. Contact our concierge team if you need guidance on hosting images for use in your Details content.

Can I update the Details content after a challenge has launched? Yes. Details content can be edited at any time from the challenge management screen in your admin portal. Updates will be reflected immediately for participants.

What happens if a challenge has no Details content added? If no Details content has been authored, the Details button will not appear to participants in that challenge. The button is only shown when content has been saved.

The Details section is not showing in my challenge setup screen. What should I do? Confirm that you are logged into your branded Enterprise Admin Portal. If the Details field is not visible within your challenge setup, please contact our concierge team and we will assist you.
