Introducing Team Challenges: Compete Together, Win Together

Better together has never meant more. We’re thrilled to announce one of the most-requested features in the history of Positive Health Challenges — Team Challenges. Whether you’re rallying your department, your department, or your entire organization, Team Challenges brings a whole new layer of camaraderie, competition, and collective motivation to every step you take.

What Are Team Challenges?

Team Challenges lets participants join a named team when they sign up for a challenge. From that moment forward, every mile walked, every activity logged, and every point earned goes toward both your individual ranking and your team’s standing on the leaderboard. It’s the best of both worlds — personal accountability with collective momentum.

How It Works

Getting started is simple. When joining a challenge, participants are prompted to select their team from a list — Fore example: Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Red, etc. One tap, and you’re in. Your efforts instantly begin counting toward your team’s score.

Once the challenge is underway, the new Team Stats tab gives everyone a clear view of how teams are stacking up. Teams are displayed with their total combined points, and members are listed beneath their team’s banner — so you can see exactly who’s pulling the weight and who might need a little extra encouragement.

Meanwhile, the classic Leaderboard tab still shows individual rankings, so your personal best never gets lost in the crowd.

Flexible Rewarding — Your Challenge, Your Rules

One of the most powerful things about Team Challenges is the flexibility challenge administrators have in deciding how to reward performance. Two options are available:

  • Shared Victory: Everyone on the winning team receives the same badge, awards, and points. This approach fosters a true “we’re in this together” spirit and is great for building culture and inclusion across a group.
  • Top Performer Recognition: Only the individual leader on the winning team receives the badge, awards, and points. This is ideal for challenges where you want to celebrate standout performers while still keeping the team competition alive.

Administrators can choose whichever model best fits their community’s goals — and the platform handles the rest automatically.

Unlimited Teams. Top Three Rewarded.

You’re not limited in how many teams you can create — challenges can support as many teams as your community needs. However, to keep the competitive stakes meaningful, only the top three teams are awarded at the end of the challenge. The rest of the teams participate and contribute, but the podium spots are earned, not given. It keeps things exciting all the way to the finish line.

Why Team Challenges Work

Research consistently shows that social accountability is one of the strongest motivators for behavior change. When your daily steps contribute to something bigger than yourself — when your teammates are counting on you — skipping that lunchtime walk becomes a lot harder to justify.

Team Challenges is designed to tap into exactly that. It creates shared stakes, sparks friendly rivalry between groups, and makes every individual effort feel like it matters to the whole.

Whether you’re running a corporate wellness program, a community fitness event, or a friendly competition among friends and family, Team Challenges gives your participants a reason to show up — every single day.
