MCQ Challenges: Multiple Choice Question-Based Challenges for Enterprise Administrators

Available exclusively in the Enterprise Admin Portal

Overview

MCQ Challenges bring a powerful new challenge format to the Positive Health Challenges platform — one built entirely around knowledge, engagement, and daily participation. Enterprise administrators can now design and launch Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) Challenges that serve daily questions to participants, rewarding every answer with points, badges, Health Positive Points, and more.

Whether you want to reinforce wellness education, test health knowledge, drive daily app engagement, or simply add variety to your challenge calendar, MCQ Challenges give your organization a fresh and flexible way to keep participants actively involved.

This is an Enterprise-only feature and is configured and managed exclusively through your organization’s branded administration portal.

How to Set Up an MCQ Challenge

  1. Navigate to Manage Challenges from your admin dashboard
  2. Select the Add New Challenge button
  3. From the challenge type pulldown menu, select Manual
  4. When prompted for an input type, open the Activity pulldown and select MCQ
  5. Upload your JSON file containing your questions and answers (see below for details)

If you do not see the MCQ option in your portal, please contact our concierge team for assistance.

About the JSON Question File

MCQ Challenges require your question set to be prepared and uploaded as a JSON file — a structured data format that organizes your questions and answer choices in a way the platform can read and serve to participants.

If you are familiar with JSON, you can build your question file directly and upload it during challenge setup.

If you are not sure what a JSON file is or need help preparing one, please contact our Healthtek concierge team. We are happy to assist you format your questions correctly, review your file before upload, or handle the preparation on your behalf.

How MCQ Challenges Work

Administrator Creates the Questions

Before launching, administrators build a bank of multiple choice questions directly in the admin portal. Each question includes the answer choices participants will see. Questions can be focused on any topic relevant to your wellness program — nutrition, physical activity, mental health, workplace safety, organizational health initiatives, or any other area your program prioritizes.

Questions are served to participants on a daily cadence for the duration of the challenge, keeping engagement consistent and giving participants a reason to return to the app every day.

Participants Answer and Earn

Each time a participant submits an answer, it counts toward their standing in the challenge. Rewards are issued per answer and can include any combination of the following:

  • Leaderboard Points — every answer contributes to a participant’s ranking, keeping the competitive element alive throughout the challenge
  • Health Positive Points — redeemable points that accumulate as participants engage
  • Badges — recognition awarded for participation milestones or correct answer streaks
  • Gifts and Custom Rewards — physical or digital rewards configured through your account’s Inspiration Rewards Marketplace

Because every answer is rewarded — not just correct ones — MCQ Challenges are designed to encourage participation and learning over time, rather than penalizing knowledge gaps.

Administrators Review Responses

All participant answers are collected and accessible from the MCQ section of your Enterprise Admin Portal. Administrators can review individual and aggregate response data to understand how participants are engaging with each question, identify knowledge gaps across the group, and inform future challenge content and wellness programming decisions.

Building Your Question Set

Your questions and answer choices are prepared in advance and uploaded to the platform as a JSON file during challenge setup. When planning your content, keep the following in mind:

Question Volume: Plan enough questions to cover the full duration of your challenge at a pace of one question per day. A 30-day challenge requires a minimum of 30 questions.

Answer Choices: Each question should include clear, distinct answer choices. Well-constructed options make questions more engaging and educational.

Topic Focus: MCQ Challenges work especially well when questions are tied to a broader wellness theme — for example, a “Heart Health Month” challenge with questions spanning nutrition, exercise, stress, and sleep.

Tone: Keep questions accessible and encouraging. The goal is daily engagement and positive reinforcement, not a high-stakes quiz.

Reward Configuration

Reward settings for MCQ Challenges are configured during challenge setup in your admin portal. You can set:

  • The number of Health Positive Points awarded per answer
  • Which badges are triggered and at what participation thresholds
  • Whether gifts or physical rewards are tied to answer milestones
  • Leaderboard visibility settings for your participant group

Frequently Asked Questions

Are participants rewarded only for correct answers, or for all answers? Every submitted answer earns the participant their configured reward — points, badges, and Health Positive Points are issued per engagement, not per correct response. This ensures maximum participation and a positive experience for all knowledge levels.

Can I update or add questions after a challenge has launched? Because questions are loaded via JSON file upload at setup, changes to the question set after launch may be limited. We recommend finalizing and reviewing your JSON file thoroughly before uploading. Contact our concierge team if you need to make changes to a live challenge.

Can I see which answers participants selected? Yes. Individual participant responses are available for review in your Enterprise Admin Portal under the MCQ challenge dashboard. Aggregate response summaries are also available for group-level insight.

Can MCQ Challenges be combined with other challenge types? At this time, MCQ Challenges are launched as their own standalone challenge type. They can, however, run alongside other active challenges in your account simultaneously.

Can I reuse questions from a previous MCQ Challenge? Question banks from past challenges are saved in your portal and can be referenced when building new challenges. Contact our team for guidance on duplicating or repurposing past challenge content.

I don’t see the MCQ option when setting up a challenge. What should I do? Confirm that you are logged into your branded Enterprise Admin Portal and that you have selected Manual from the challenge type pulldown before looking for the MCQ option in the Activity selection. MCQ is not available in the participant-facing app. If you’re following the correct steps and the option is still not visible, please contact our concierge team and we will assist you right away.
